Xeriscaping….ever heard of it?

I heard about it recently from an article I had read. Xeriscaping or sometimes referred to as Xerogardening is landscaping and gardening that reduces or eliminates the need for a lot of water.

The word comes from the Greek word “xeros” which means dry. Although xeriscaping was first designed for areas that are prone to very little rainfall and drought, it is becoming more popular in other areas.

With people becoming more aware of conservation, the concept of having landscaping and plants that require very little water and maintenance can be very appealing.

In addition to reducing the costs of watering and maintenance a well designed xeriscape can actually improve the curb appeal and value of a home.

Here is a link with more info on Xeriscaping:  http://eartheasy.com/grow_xeriscape.htm

Also if you Google xeriscape you will find lot of references and pictures.
