MLS STATS FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2011.
I am sure you have heard on the radio or read in the paper that the sales for the month of January were up 57% over last year. This is a great start to the market. I think part of the increase is due to the new mortgage rules that will be in place starting in March. Buyers are getting into the market before the changes take place.
Here are the numbers for the month:
Number of properties sold was 108 compared to 69 last January. An increase of 57%
Number of properties listed was 308 compared to 238 last January. An increase of 29%
Total Dollar Volume for January is $18,237,485 compared to $10,895,100 last year. An increase of 67%
The top 5 price ranges are as follows:
1. $100,000 to $149,900 with 34 properties sold
2. $150,000 to $199,999 with 21 properties sold
3. $200,000 to $249,900 with 19 properties sold
4. Under $100,000 with 17 properties sold
5. $250,000 to 299,999 with 11 properties sold.
It is a strong start to the local market. It should remain strong for the next few months if interest rates
remain low and our local economy remains stable.
